Sweet and Sour Veggie balls

INGREDIENTS

For Bola-Bola:

1/4 kg ground chicken
1 large kamote, cooked and mashed
1 tokwa, mashed
¼ cup minced celery
½ cup chopped onions
¼ cup minced garlic
1 cup chopped singkamas
1 8g MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
1 egg
¼ cup flour
cooking oil for frying


For Sweet and Sour Sauce:

1 cup pineapple juice
1 cup pineapple chunks
¼ cup brown sugar or to taste
1 tsp MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
1/4 cup banana catsup
½ cup sliced celery
1 medium red bell pepper, sliced
2 tsp corn starch dissolved in

PROCEDURE

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken, kamote, tokwa, celery, onions, garlic, singkamas and MAGGI MAGIC SARAP. Mix until fully incorporated.
  2. Add egg and flour. Fry a small sample to check if taste is all right. Adjust seasoning if necessary. Scoop about ¼ cup of meat mixture and form into small ball. Deep-fry until golden brown. Transfer on paper lined plate to drain excess oil. Set aside.
  3. Pour pineapple juice in a pan. Stir-in pineapple chunks. Season with sugar and MAGGI MAGIC SARAP.
  4. Add banana catsup, celery and bell pepper. Bring to a boil. Thicken sauce with cornstarch slurry.
  5. Add back prepared bola-bola. Simmer with the sauce for another 2 minutes. Serve hot.
