Pork Asado

This mouthwatering braised pork dish becomes extra delectable when marinated in a sweet and vitamin A rich tomato sauce.

INGREDIENTS

1 kg kasim or pigue, sliced into 5-6 big pieces
¾ cup soy sauce
1 cup water
1 onion, sliced
2 tomatoes, sliced
¼ cup calamansi juice
3 bay leaves
1 8g MAGGI MAGIC SARAP
cooking oil for frying
1 cup tomato sauce
2-3 tbsp sugar
½ cup cubed cheddar cheese

PROCEDURE

  1. Boil pork in soy sauce, onion, tomatoes, calamansi juice, bay leaf and MAGGI MAGIC SARAP until tender or for about 30-45 minutes.
  2. Heat cooking oil. Pan-fry boiled pork until brown on all sides. Set aside broth for later use. Transfer fried pork on a paper lined plate to drain excess oil and to allow the pork to rest.
  3. In the same pan, leave 2-3 tbsp of oil. Put back prepared pork and reserved broth. Bring to a boil. Add tomato sauce and cook for another 15 minutes or until sauce is reduced.
  4. Add sugar and cheese for more fl avor. Slice pork pieces then top with thickened sauce when serving.
